Tropical Treks has moved to the Sunshine Coast. Our Far North tours are not available. We will update this website with tours and events in the South East Queensland Hinterlands. Meanwhile visit us on Facebook for updates, events and current tour options. Many thanks, Steve.

Tropical Treks acknowledges the traditional owners of the region we visit and pay respect to the elders both past and present.

Welcome to Tropical Treks, a locally owned tour operator dedicated to guided bushwalks, offering half-day and full day treks in the Wet Tropics World Heritage Area and North Queensland Savannah. We also do extended multi-day walks, 4WD tours to Cape York, Gulf of Carpentaria and chartered tours.

The Wet Tropics rainforest is the oldest continuous living rainforest on Earth.

Home to unique, ancient wildlife found nowhere else in the world, including the musky rat kangaroo, Australia's smallest macropod, the rare Lumholtz and Bennetts tree kangaroos and nearly half of all Australian bird species, including the Southern cassowary.

Large rapid flowing river systems like the Daintree River are home to the famous fighting fish, the barramundi (lates calcarifer) and saltwater crocodile (crocodylus porosis). High coastal mountains provide a refuge for many endangered and unique animals, birds, insects and plants.

Our walks retrace ancient Aboriginal trails where your guide will relate their stories, lifestyles and connection with the rainforest and savannah. Unique landscapes in each walk will raise discussions on how the mountains were formed; why the rainforest exists; how it is interconnected with our lives today.

The tropical savannah is on the western side of the high coastal mountains. The stark sudden change of habitat is evident, when you walk from the rainforest and, within a few metres, the savannah unfold before your eyes.
